Call for Abstracts: Abstracts are welcome for oral presentation reporting experiences, research, best practices, and new ideas in the fields of hazard preparedness, monitoring, forecasting, and disaster prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery in the Far North.
Organizers encourage submissions from social and geoscientists, emergency managers and responders, community leaders, students, and residents of towns that have been impacted by hazardous events. Sets of 15-minute presentations will be followed by moderated 30-minute discussion periods.
The symposium will include reports from the Russian-American team that is conducting a stakeholder dialog and paired case study of the villages of Edeytsy, Sakha Republic, Russia and Galena, Alaska, USA, both inundated by ice-jam floods in May 2013. The project is part of the Peer-to-peer Program of the U.S. Department of State.
The call for abstracts is open to the public, and abstracts should be submitted to molesen@alaska.edu by Monday, February 1, 2016, in the following format:
