The route is now in developing process and expected to be in iceless areas. The starting point may be set in Murmansk or Barentsburg. Participants will enter Sabetta, cross the International Date Line, pass along the coast of the North America and Canada and return to the beginning of the route. The length of the route will be about 9 000 nautical miles.
Sailing ships passed the route around the North Pole before, but it is the first time they are going to do it in competitive form.
