The new Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Lapland and Murmansk Arctic State University provides a framework for cooperation in diverse academic activities. These include exchange of students and staff, student recruitment to international study programs, joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, and exchange of publications and academic materials. The agreement was formally signed on March 28, 2018 by the rectors of the two universities, Professor Mauri Ylä-Kotola and Doctor Andrey Sergeev.
Murmansk Arctic State University has been a member of UArctic for nearly 15 years and is also an active participant in six UArctic Thematic Networks. During their visit to the University of Lapland, the delegation had a chance to meet with staff members of the UArctic International Secretariat and the lead of the UArctic Thematic Network in Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education. The UArctic and Murmansk representatives discussed current developments and mutual interests of the two universities and UArctic, and reaffirmed their interest to continue fruitful cooperation in Arctic issues.
