UArctic Research Area aims to increase the research cooperation between the UArctic member universities and organizations by improving their opportunities for research funding and facilitating cooperation with international science organizations.

Hosted by the University of Umeå, Sweden, the 9th UArctic Rectors' Forum will be held August 19 to 22, 2015. The theme will be "The Challenges of Arctic Research."

The book is devoted to Norway and Scotland, two countries at the North of Europe. The authors write about the economic, social and political development of both countries since 1800, making interesting comparisons and conclusions.

UArctic Thematic Networks leaders gathered together in Bodø, Norway, for their annual program team meeting. This year the aim was to brainstorm potential topical Arctic issues and gaps in knowledge for joint research projects.

23 March at Northern (Arctic) Federal University 11 BCS students got diplomas of the University of the Arctic. The BCS program is offered by several UArctic members, among which is the University of Nordland (Norway). Its representatives Eivind Karlsen and Hakan Sandersen attended the graduation ceremony.

In August 2015, the University of the Faroe Islands, University of Greenland, University of Akureyri in Iceland, University of Iceland and University of Nordland, coastal Norway, will launch a new international and interdisciplinary master’s program in West Nordic Studies, Governance and Sustainable Management.
