This year's participant list includes an outstanding number of Rectors, Presidents, Chancellors, Provosts and Vice-Presidents representing 37 different institutions.
The group will be given the challenging responsibility of adopting a UArctic Charter, as well as the Terms of Reference for the Forum. The Group will also be focussing on improving cooperation in research and the development of a Graduate Area, as well as ways of promoting a marketing strategy for education in the North. Finally, Andy Greenshaw, Vice-Chair of the UArctic Board of Governors, will present an update on the current standing of the new UArctic Strategic Plan.
The Forum is also being partially organized in conjunction with the Standing Committee of Arctic Parliamentarians. A joint seminar has been organized for the two groups, which has a the thematic foci on the role of universities in addressing the pressing challenges of Climate Change, as well as how borders will influence access to the Arctic Sea. Both themes will feature a number of presentations given by experts in their respective fields, including Canadian Senator Yoine Goldstein and Ms. Diana Wallis, Vice-President of the European Parliament.
