Eligibility
Applicants should be Undergraduates or early Masters students, with a minimum of 1 year (60 ECTS) in physical/technical and/or natural sciences.
Cost
A 250 Euro participation fee in addition to travel costs to UNIS located in Longyearbyen, Svalbard.
Dinners and accommodation are included in the course fee, and will be due upon acceptance to the course. The estimated cost from Oslo to Longyearbyen is 380 Euro. There are some travel grants available for those students that require financial assistance.

Prospective students will need to provide UNIS with certified academic transcripts when returning the application receipt. Students requiring financial assistance need to submit a personal statement and travel cost estimates to be considered as a recipient of a travel grant.

An interdisciplinary experience in Polar Studies
In celebration of the IPY 2007-09 year, this three-week course will focus on environmental change in the Arctic and Antarctica through a series of lectures and field excursions in Svalbard, Norway. The course will cover topics on Glaciology, Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, Marine/Terrestrial Biology, Permafrost, and the Human Dimension in Polar Regions.
